DSIR –RECOGNIZED IN-HOUSE R & D UNIT FOCUS -
  • Developing new processes and products from chitin and its derivatives
  • Focus on product and process developments with plant and animal biochemicals.
  • Utilizing the effluents from the above industry to manufacture enzymes, carotenoid, proteins, biofertilizers and biogas.
  • The process and products development for products from coir, such as organic fertilizers, planting media etc.and other agri-inputs products.
  • To develop technologies for waste management and efficient source level composting.
  • To develop value added products from wastes of industries.
  • To develop protocols for zero discharge schemes in different industries.

GOVERNMENT FUNDED PROJECTS:

  1. DBT (Dept. Of Biotechnology), SBIRI (Small Business Innovation Research Initiative) scheme:

    “Value added products from crustacean exoskeleton (Chitin & derivatives) & coir pith (organic manure/planting media) – integrated zero discharge processing project”.

  2. DST (Dept. Of Science and Technology):

    “Process development for the isolation of flavonoids/ polyphenols from plants using metal complexation”.

  3. NCRMI (National Coir Research and Management Institute).

    a. Hardening of coir fiber

    b. Softening of coconut husk using biotech methods.

  4. DIPAS- DRDO (Defence Research and Development Organisation):

    Development of Chitosan formulations in wound healing applications

  5. ICMR (Indian Council of Medical Research)

    Development and formulation of anti-larval & vector control using herbal extracts.

TRAINING

We provide industrial training for all selected B.Tech/ M.Tech / M.Sc students, all over India, in the areas of Environmental and Agriculture Biotechnology, as part of the BIOTECH INDUSTRIAL TRAINING PROGRAM BITP, CONDUCTED BY BCIL, NEW DELHI.
